To my White friends:
Don’t tell me how you feel about racism. Tell me what you are going to do to stop racism.
I know racism is gross.
I know racism is evil.
I know racism is horrific.
But what I don’t know is…
what are YOU GOING TO DO TO STOP RACISM.
And, what you are going to do to stop racism is the only thing I want to talk to you about.
I’m exhausted and we need allies. Not observers of facts.
I need you to do something.
I am barely holding on here and I need your actual help.
thanks,
Rondi
I am just beginning to get a teeny, tiny smidgeon of how tired all Black people must be. I’m an old lady and can’t do much but I’m talking to other white people and working to get our local police Dept. defunded. Also homeschooling my 11 year old Black daughter to know the full history of this country. As we Quakers say, way will open and I will do more. Thank you for your blog and links.
Thank you Rondi – I like the poster above am beginning to feel viscerally what the cost of racism has been to people of color. I am going to stand up and stand out more and call it out when I see it and work on dismantling my own racism everyday.
